P. David Correll
P. David Correll, a resident of Toms River, NJ, has been a teacher at Toms River High School/Toms River High School South for 50 years. In many respects, he is considered to be “The Indian” at Toms River South. He and his wife Dianna have been married for 52 years. They have four children, Kelly, David, Carolyn, and Debbie, all who have graduated from TR South between 1981 and 1987. David is retired now, but remains a substitution teacher in Toms River Schools. Over the course of 50 years, David taught Advanced Placement History for 38 years, was a full-time teacher at TRHS/TR South for 43 years, and also taught for three years at Mansfield Jr./Sr. High in Pennsylvania. He is an Honorary Member of the Toms River Schools Hall of Fame, and has been an integral part of all areas of school life at TRHS/TR South for a half-century. He has been honored by numerous professional groups, organizations, and the Toms River Board of Education for his contributions to education, and was selected twice as “Teacher of the Year.”
Gus Kakavas, a resident of Toms River, NJ, is a member and Class President of the Toms River High School Class of 1970. He graduated from Ocean County College and Rutgers University, attaining a degree in Business Administration and advanced certification in Transportation Management. He is married to 1982 South alumnus Robin (Wilderman) Kakavas, who is the Head Secretary at High School South. They have two daughters, Jennifer and Megan and five granddaughters. Gus retired from the Toms River Regional School District in 2005, after which he formed his own transportation consulting company. Gus is currently providing his consulting services to the Lakewood, Hillsborough and Teaneck BOE’s. He is a inductee of the Toms River Schools Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the Hitting Indians Football Team. He also has served Toms River Township as a member of the Rent Leveling Board, the Board of Adjustment, and the Planning Board. He was a member the Toms River Regional Board of Education in 2009-2012, and has been a volunteer for the March of Dimes, the American Cancer Society, the Toms River First Aid Squad, and the Toms River Township Auxiliary Police.
Michael A. Jedziniak, Esq.
Michael A. Jedziniak, Esq. a resident of Pine Beach, NJ, is a member of the TR South Class of ’82, and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Seton Hall School of Law. He is married to alumnus Barbara J. (Johnson) Jedziniak, also a member of the TR South Class of ’82. They have two children, Dana, TR South Class of ’13; and Michael, a 5th Grader at Pine Beach Elementary School. Mike is an attorney at Jeffrey R. Surenian and Associates, LLC located in Brielle NJ. He was also an Inaugural Inductee of the Toms River Schools Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of Ken Frank’s TR South Baseball Team; a Member and past-President of the Toms River Schools Board of Education (2002 – present); a member of the Toms River South Baseball Hall of Fame; and a former Member of the Pine Beach Planning Board.
M. Douglas Polhemus
M. Douglas Polhemus is a resident of Toms River, NJ, a member of the TR South Class of ’82, and is married to fellow Trustee Debra Polhemus. They have two children, Matthew, TR South Class of ’07, and Amanda, TR South Class of ’09. As stated above, Matthew and Amanda represent the Polhemus family’s fourth generation of Toms River High School and TR South graduates. Douglas is employed as a Manager for Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home. Douglas is an Elder and President of the Board of Trustees of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River; a Member and Past President of Toms River Rotary Club; a Recipient of the Paul Harris Award; a Trustee of the Toms River Schools Hall of Fame; and a Trustee of the Toms River Student Loan Fund.

Bettijane (Bariexca) Giglio, a resident of Whiting, NJ (no, not in a senior development yet), is a member of the Toms River High School Class of 1970. She attended Ocean County College and graduated The Stuart School of Business. She has been married to James L. Giglio since 1973 and has four children, Erin, James, Nicholas, Joshua, and six grandchildren. Bettijane is currently employed by AECOM, a government contractor, on the Joint Base McGurie-Dix-Lakehurst, as a Human Resources Manager. She is actively involved with her church and is currently the Whiting Bible Church Mission Board Treasurer.
